BREXIT PARTY MEP Ann Widdecombe delivered brutal and relentless Brexit tour de force in the European Parliament as she shamed the “undemocratic” bloc with an unabashed celebration of Britain.
Brexit: Ann Widdecombe tells EU ‘thank god we’re leaving’
Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe stunned colleagues in the European Parliament chamber in Strasbourg on Thursday as she delivered her first speech since being elected last May. Ms Widdecombe shamed the “undemocratic” European Union as she stood next to Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage while delivering her bold statement. She said: “It’s a great honour to speak on behalf of the largest single party in this place.
“And may I say, if I needed any convincing at all that the best thing for Britain is to leave here as soon as possible, it was the way those elections were conducted yesterday.
“If that is this place’s idea of democracy, that is a serious betrayal of every country that is represented here.”
She added: “That is just one of many reasons why Britain is right to be leaving this place, hopefully on Halloween.
“It is right because there is pattern consistent throughout the history of oppressed people turning on the oppressors. Slaves against their owners, the peasantry against the feudal barons. Colonies, Mr Verhofstadt, against their empires and that is why Britain is leaving.”

Nigel Farage was overheard laughing throughout the Brexit Party MEPs powerful speech.
Ms Widdecombe said: “It doesn’t matter which language you use, we are going and we are glad to be going.”
During her speech, Ms Widdecombe was repeatedly interrupted by the President of the European Parliament, as she pushed close to her 90-seconds allotted time to speak.
Ms Widdecombe finished: “I represent the southwest of the United Kingdom. And I found on my very first day that this place has decided, well this place hasn’t, the powers that be have decided to actually increase the size of fisherman’s meshes, thereby reducing their income by 40 percent.

“That is what you do here. That is why we are going. Nous allons, wir gehen, we’re off.”
The Brexit Party MEPs erupted in a chorus of cheers in the European Parliament chamber following Ms Widdecombe’s speech.
Following the tirade, Brexit Party MEP for the South East, Alexandra Philips, Tweeted: “Tears in my eyes. She represents the ignored majority. Brave and principled. Our Ann.”
Michael Heaver, Brexit Party MEP for the East of England, said: “Ann Widdecombe gives them both barrels in the EU Parliament.”
