Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester United will be a strong contender for the 2019/2020 Premier League title after signing defender, Harry Maguire, from Leicester City.

Guardiola stated this on Sunday after Manchester City defeated Liverpool on penalties in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

DAILY POST had earlier reported that Maguire has been filmed arriving at Manchester United’s Carrington training camp to complete his medicals.

Man United agreed on a £80million deal with Leicester City for Maguire on Friday, subject to the 26-year-old passing a medical

When asked if the addition of Maguire could push Man United towards the 2019/2020 EPL title, Guardiola was quoted by Manchester Evening News as saying: “Yeah, Maguire is an excellent, top class player. We were interested but we could not afford it and United can afford it.

“He made an incredible World Cup, strong in the air, good with the ball and drives with the ball so fast and young and has all the qualities to work for United. Congratulations to United for the signing.”

Guardiola added: “At the beginning, there are five or six teams who are contenders.

“I don’t care if people say we are going to win titles. It doesn’t matter about the recent years with United. They’re always contenders.”
