The Nigerian National Grid drops again, marking the ninth instance of grid failure in 2024 and the fourth this month.

As of 10:08 PM on Tuesday, the national grid drops to 2,037.2 megawatts.

Key generating companies, including Sapele and Rivers IPP, reported zero power output, contributing to widespread outages.

This follows ongoing challenges in the power sector, with hopes for recovery amidst government assurances of improvements in service delivery.

Recall that all northern states except Niger and Kwara have been without power for two weeks. The hardest-hit states are Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, and Katsina, which have experienced complete blackouts.

The blackouts also affect Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue.

The power outage across northern Nigeria started when vandals damaged the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, the main power supply line to the north.
