This follows the sighting of new crescent of Shawwal 1440 After Hijra (AH) of the Islamic calendar in several locations across the country, which marks the end of the month-long fasting.

A statement by Supreme Council read, “The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs wishes to inform the Nigerian Muslim ummah that the crescent of the month of Shawwal 1440 has been sighted in several places in Nigeria. Therefore, tomorrow Tuesday, June 4, 2019 is the first day of Shawwal.

“His Eminence, the President-General of NSCIA wishes the Muslim Ummah Eid Mubarak”.
