So THAT’S why he’s so scared! Jeremy Corbyn humiliated in Boris Johnson showdown – poll

EXCLUSIVE: Boris Johnson has been handed a massive vote of confidence by the British public, who say he is the best man to deliver Brexit.

An Express poll revealed voters believe Boris is the only party leader who can deliver Brexit

Some 40 percent of voters are convinced he is the only party leader who can get us out of the EU, according to an exclusive poll for the Daily Express. His soaring popularity trounces that of Jeremy Corbyn, with the Labour leader only managing a measly 17 per cent in the survey from OnePoll. In a further illustration of the hapless leadership shown by Mr Corbyn the poll showed that a third of Labour supporters feel he has betrayed them by changing his position on Brexit. He is also refusing to allow the public an early general election.

On Monday, Mr Johnson will try for a second time to trigger a snap election as he urges MPs to back going to the country on October 15.

It is hoped an election will break the parliamentary Brexit deadlock which has forced months of delays.

And the poll shows the Conservative Party would secure a resounding victory with 31 per cent of the vote compared to Labour’s 25 per cent.

The Liberal Democrats, who have been emboldened by a series of recent defections, come third on 16 per cent with Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party next on 14 per cent.

Brexit: Boris could still force a general election says expert

Despite publicly demanding an election at least 35 times in the past two years Mr Corbyn has led a ‘Remainer Alliance’ to block an early poll from taking place until a Brexit delay has been formally agreed with the EU to stop a clean break from Brussels.

A Labour Bill, aimed at blocking a no deal Brexit, will gain royal assent on Monday meaning Britain will be legally bound to ask Brussels for another Brexit extension.

But France’s foreign minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and senior Eurocrat Guy Verhofstadt yesterday (Sun) warned that the EU will refuse to give Britain another Brexit delay.

Their comments are a hammer blow to Remainers who are trying every trick in the book to thwart Brexit.

Jeremy Corbyn has been trounced by Boris Johnson in a shock poll

Mr Johnson’s surging support comes amid chaos in Westminster following a tumultuous week of political drama in which 21 Tory rebels were kicked out of the party, his brother Jo quit and Cabinet Minister Amber Rudd resigned.

But today’s eye catching poll bolsters belief across the country that the Prime Minister is taking the correct approach to ensure Britain leaves the European Union properly and on time.

The findings reveal that 46 per cent of people back the PM in preparing the country for a no deal Brexit in the hope it makes the EU renegotiate.

OnePoll’s survey contrasts 2017 voting intention compared with today.

Boris Johnson has demanded a general election to help break the Brexit impasse

It shines a spotlight on how Labour is leaching supporters to other party’s because of it’s dithering over Brexit and the anti-semitic crisis which has engulfed the party.

Interestingly, some 11 per cent of the Brexit Party’s supporters have come from Labour. Mr Farage’s political movement, which was only created six months ago has seen 46 per cent of its supporters jump ship from the Conservatives with another 22 per cent coming from UKIP.

When it comes to Brexit it appears that even Labour supporters don’t trust their leader to get the job done with just 58 per cent saying they want Mr Corbyn to manage the UK’s european exit.

Furthermore, only 56 per cent of Labour voters say the party’s decision to block Mr Johnson’s call for an election despite having a petition on their own site for one is a “logical reaction” to changing political circumstances.

In another damning verdict of Mr Corbyn election guru John Curtice has warned the Labour Party’s support has fallen by 16 points since the 2017 general election.

Mr Curtice said: “Labour could fall behind the Tories in many of their marginal seats, perhaps especially so where the constituency voted heavily for Leave.

“Mr Johnson’s signal electoral achievement so far has been gradually to squeeze the support of the Brexit Party, nearly all of whose support comes from Leave voters.

“It is that movement that has enabled him to secure a nine-point lead over Labour in the polls.

“He will hope to win over even more Brexiteers between now and election day, not least perhaps by persuading them that a vote for Nigel Farage would be a wasted vote that could simply pave the way for a pro-Remain Labour government.

“If he succeeds, the effect is most likely to be felt in Labour-held marginal seats where more than 55 per cent voted Leave.”

OnePoll polled 2,000 voters between September 5th and 6th.
