Sultan reveals those causing religious crises in Nigeria, breaks silence on alleged demolition of mosque in Rivers

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has stated that political ambition of some politicians can be attributed the religious crises in the country.

Disclosing this on Sunday while meeting with religious leaders under the aegis of Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) at the Saint David’s Cathedral Hall in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Alhaji Abubakar urged politicians to desist from using religion to cause disunity among Nigerians.

According to the Sultan, who is the Head of Muslims in Nigeria, the Bible and Quran do not belong to any political party.

Speaking on the alleged demolition of a mosque in Port-Harcourt by the Rivers State Government, Alhaji Abubakar said NIREC at the national level was already handling the issue for amicable resolution.

The Sultan who his on a two-day visit to Ondo State and being hosted by the Deji of Akure land, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, said nobody could claim to love God without loving their neighbours who are Muslims and Christians.

In a remark, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo said the historic gathering was to foster religious harmony in Ondo State.

The meeting was attended by both Christians and Muslims leaders led by CAN Chairman, Reverend John Ayo Oladapo and the chairman, league of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Ahmed Aladesawe.
